What did we measure?

We issue local-service prompts to ChatGPT and Gemini, record business recommendations, and compare them with Google Maps and organic search results.

How are businesses selected?

Businesses are selected from stronger, middle, and weaker Google Maps performers. Additional businesses discovered in AI answers are verified before publication. This is a stratified, non-probability sample, not a random survey of all businesses.

What can’t these results tell us?

AI answers change with the prompt, time, location, model, and interface. API observations do not reproduce the consumer apps. Associations do not establish cause and effect, and visibility does not measure business quality. Aggregates reflect only the published markets, and available measurements can differ by analysis.

When was this research collected?

A snapshot date will be shown when this report is published. Aggregate reports can include eligible market snapshots collected on different dates. Local report links open the latest published period.
